How it is machined
All 5 designs
Room light, no filters
Shot on a phone in ordinary room light — no filters, no colour grading, and the movement is real time.
How to choose between the holographic designs
All five share the same machined base and windproof body, so the choice comes down to how the piece reads at arm's length:
- Glow green skull — the strongest glow-in-the-dark effect of the set; reads clearly even in low light.
- Emerald dragon — the busiest pattern, with the most visible shift when you tilt it side to side.
- Crimson eye / mask — tighter, more graphic designs that suit a gift where you want the motif obvious at a glance.
If you are buying as a gift, the bold single-motif designs photograph better than the dense ones — worth knowing if you plan to post it.
Looking after the machined surface
The relief is cut into the metal rather than printed on top of it, so there is no coating to peel. A few things still make a difference over years:
- Wipe with a dry microfibre cloth. Fingerprints show more on a mirror-polished surface than on a matte one.
- Avoid abrasive pads and metal polish — they round off the edges of the relief and the depth effect softens with it.
- Store it away from loose keys and coins. The body takes dents far better than the machined face does.
- The effect is in the geometry, not a film — no battery, no charging, and it does not fade in sunlight.
Note on fuel: lighters ship empty because postal carriers classify pressurised fuel as dangerous goods. Fill it with standard lighter fluid before first use; a flint is already fitted.
Frequently asked questions
- How does the 3D effect work?
- The surface is precision-machined so the image shifts and gains depth as the angle changes — no battery, no screen.
- Will the effect wear off?
- No. It is part of the metal itself, so it lasts as long as the lighter.
- Which holographic designs are available?
- Glow green skull, emerald dragon, crimson eye and crimson mask.
- Can I get my own artwork as a holographic lighter?
- Yes. Send the image and we will tell you honestly whether it will hold depth once machined — flat logos and busy photographs tend to lose the effect, high-contrast single subjects hold it best.
- Is it heavier than a standard lighter?
- Marginally. The machined face adds a little weight, which most people read as better build quality rather than bulk.
- Does it come with lighter fluid?
- No. Postal regulations forbid shipping pressurised fuel, so it arrives empty with the flint fitted. Any standard lighter fluid works.
